After graduating from Musashino Art Junior College, I became captivated by Bizen ware and have since been creating pieces that add color to daily life. My work values a warmth that fits comfortably in the user's hand, pursuing designs that are simple yet impactful.

My main style is characterized by rustic forms, warm glazes, and a pleasant tactile feel. I strive to create everyday vessels with designs that resonate with the user's heart.

I knead the clay, shape it, wait for it to dry, apply different glazes, and fire it. During firing, I pay particular attention to temperature control to bring out different expressions in each piece. I value the subtle differences inherent in handmade items, as they give each piece its unique character.

At Yayoi Shimizu's studio, I aim to provide warm moments through pottery that can be used every day. My works feature soft earth tones and simple lines, and I prioritize a texture that soothes the heart with every use.

Tokyo is a region where diverse cultures intersect, and my work is influenced by this. Tokyo's ceramics have a unique style that blends tradition and modernity, resulting in many pieces that seamlessly integrate into daily life. The techniques and sensibilities cultivated in this land have greatly influenced my creative activities.
