It is made with hidasuki, a technique in which straw is wrapped around the piece before firing so that scarlet lines appear, and no two patterns are the same. The rim is a deep dark brown that gives the whole plate a calm look. It is handy as a soy sauce or condiment dish, or as a plate for chocolate and dry sweets with tea. It is also fun to combine it with other patterns and line them up on the table.
