Long Rectangular Plate, Blue Bear

Komuro Shizuka's Long Rectangular Plate is a rectangle with rounded corners, about 22 × 30 cm. On this one, a ground that moves from soft white to a faint pink is painted along the rim with black flowers, green leaves, pastel butterflies and a blue bear lying down. The simple, sweet painting, with color laid over carved lines, seems to loosen the heart just by looking at it. The center is left wide open, so the painting frames the food like a picture frame. From sandwiches and grilled fish to starters for sharing, it works for everyday meals and for having guests. The back is also painted with large flowers and leaves, so both sides are a pleasure. Each piece is painted by hand, so no two have the same picture.
