Long Rectangular Plate, Black Flowers

Komuro Shizuka's Long Rectangular Plate is a rectangle with rounded corners, about 22 × 30 cm. This one is painted freely: on a warm, yellowish ground, three large black flowers bloom while pale blue and pink butterflies dance around them. The simple touch of lines carved and drawn conveys the warmth of hand painting. On the back, bears, owls and trees spread out another story of the forest, different from the front. It is a good size, easy to use as a plate for bread, cake and baked sweets, or as a serving plate for meat dishes and starters, and it becomes the centerpiece of the table. Each piece is painted by hand, so no two have the same picture.
