Vessels to be nurtured through use.
Matsumitsuyama Pottery is located in Ohi, Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Our studio is nestled in a small town right by the Sea of Japan.
Building upon the tradition of Hagi ware, we lightly incorporate modern sensibilities to create new vessels.
From their colors, shapes, and patterns,
to their textures, warmth, and ease of use,
Matsumitsuyama's vessels are made for the food they hold.
We hope that by using Hagi ware, whether for serving seasonal ingredients or displaying flowers from your garden, you can feel a little more happiness.
We invite you to cherish Hagi ware at your daily dining table.

About this Work
A mug with its sides cut away in facets. The glaze pools differently on each face, so the surface shifts with the light.
The colour is kohiki murasaki, a faint purple bleeding through white slip.
From the morning coffee to the evening roasted tea — a cup you reach for every day.
