About this Work

This free cup is designed to be easily held in one hand, flaring at the top and narrowing at the bottom. Each piece is carefully hand-carved. The soft white of the kohiki glaze gently reveals the reddish hues of the clay. It's a perfectly sized cup for serving guests, suitable for tea, coffee, or sake. As these are handcrafted, some variations such as slight unevenness, distortion, small holes, or bumps may be present. Due to the production process, the maker's mark on the bottom may also be difficult to see on some pieces. Furthermore, because natural materials are used, some pieces may have small iron spots (black dots) from the clay, or glaze runs, pooling, or pinholes. Even when made using the same methods, no two pieces are exactly alike. We hope you will appreciate the unique individuality and character of each item.
