Furutani Potters was established in 1970 by Nobuo Furutani. By applying white slip to our unique blend of iron-rich red clay and firing it twice at low temperatures, we create soft, powdered vessels. The "white" of our powdered ceramics is rustic and warm. It gently embraces any dish and pairs perfectly with other tableware. Additionally, guided by the theme "accompanying daily life," we subtly adapt our designs to fit various lifestyles, including food culture and living spaces. We create our pieces daily, believing that our simple and easy-to-use ceramics will surely enrich your life.
01. Enjoyable and Delicious Cooking
When food is served in a beautiful vessel, it truly shines. Even the same dish takes on a different appearance when the vessel changes. "What kind of dish should I serve in this vessel?" Your imagination expands, making cooking even more enjoyable.
02. Tableware You'll Want to Use Every Day
Our ceramics feature a rustic texture and simple design because we want you to use them every day. We design them to be lightweight, easy to hold, and just the right size, incorporating various ideas into their creation. We hope they become vessels that you "find yourself using every day."
03. Crafted with Heart
Every piece of Furutani Potters' tableware is meticulously handmade through each step of the process. We pour our hearts into crafting each piece, hoping to create even better vessels tomorrow than today, envisioning the smiles of those who will use them. Our soft, gentle handmade ceramics gently embrace your food.

About this Work
This free cup is designed to be easily held in one hand, with a shape that flares at the top and tapers at the bottom. Each piece is carefully carved by hand. The soft white of the `kohiki` glaze gently reveals hints of the clay's reddish hue. It's perfect for tea, coffee, or sake.
As these are handcrafted, some pieces may have slight wobbles, distortions, small holes, or unevenness, and the back stamp may be difficult to see due to the production process. Additionally, as natural materials are used, some pieces may contain small iron spots (black dots) from the clay, or have glaze runs, pooling, or pinholes.
Even when made in the same way, no two pieces are exactly alike. We hope you will appreciate the unique individuality and character of each piece.
