About this Work

This is a charming Shigaraki ware rice bowl featuring countless delicately carved "shinogi" patterns. These patterns are meticulously hand-carved one by one, adding a touch of color to the entire vessel. While sized as a rice bowl, it can also be used for miso soup with plenty of ingredients, pot-au-feu, or as a soup cup. Due to its handmade nature, there are individual differences in color and carving. As you use it, it will develop a deeper color and luster, becoming a unique piece with its own distinct character.

手作業で一つ一つ丁寧に彫られた「しのぎ」模様が特徴的です。「しのぎ」模様は、リズミカルで躍動感があり、器に豊かな表情を与えています。祖父から受け継いだ伝統的な窯で作陶しており、信楽焼の伝統を受け継ぎながら、しのぎという独自の特徴を入れています。

「しのぎ（鎬）」は、もともと日本刀の刀身にある山高くなった筋を指す言葉で、陶芸では、ヘラやカンナを使って表面を削り落とし、連続した縦の削り目（しのぎ文）をつけたデザイン技法です。

リム皿、スープカップ、カレー皿、湯呑み、マグカップなど様々な器（うつわ）を制作され、"しのぎ"模様で、食卓を揃えることで、華やかな印象を食卓に与えることができます。
