Yamamo Masano

The "shinogi" pattern, meticulously carved by hand, is a distinctive feature. The "shinogi" pattern is rhythmic and dynamic, giving the pottery a rich expression. The artist creates pottery in a traditional kiln inherited from their grandfather, preserving the Shigaraki ware tradition while incorporating the unique shinogi characteristic.

"Shinogi" originally refers to the raised ridge on a Japanese sword blade. In pottery, it is a design technique where a spatula or plane is used to shave off the surface, creating continuous vertical facets known as shinogi marks.

The artist creates various pieces such as rimmed plates, soup cups, curry plates, teacups, and mugs. By coordinating your dining table with "shinogi" patterns, you can create a splendid impression.
