Black Clay Hand-Pinched Vase No.3

I create my pieces using hand-building and slab techniques, valuing the generosity and expressiveness of the clay.

I use different types of clay, including coarse and fine grains, with dark clay as the base, to bring out the natural texture and feel of the earth. I don't use glazes; instead, I create material contrasts through slip decoration and silver painting. Through processes like breaking, tearing, and cutting, I meticulously finish every detail, including the cross-sectional expression, thickness, edges, and feel.

I embrace imperfections that might initially seem flawed, such as distortions, hand marks, cracks, and tears, as unique characteristics of each piece, as much as possible. Rather than aiming for identical forms, I prioritize the beautiful harmony of each piece's individuality.

I hope that when you casually pick up a piece in your daily life, you'll feel the warmth of the clay and its rich expression. Furthermore, I hope that through my work, some preconceived notions of "how things should be" might unravel a little, inspiring a gentler gaze towards your own imperfections and those of others.
