Small Rectangular Plate No.2 — Okinawa

A light, contemporary "small rectangular plate", representative of Issui Kiln — the workshop of Takahata Shinya, who makes pottery in Yomitan, Okinawa. Its charm is free patterning and vivid colour unbound by the frame of traditional yachimun; simply setting it on the table brightens the mood at once.
The manageable rectangular form of roughly 17cm x 11cm works as an individual serving plate for a cut of fish or a dressed dish, and equally as a cafe-style plate for an onigiri or a baked sweet. Flat and easy to stack, it earns its place — a plate that makes the daily table more fun.
