Takashi Suzuki is a ceramic artist from Odawara who creates uniquely blue vessels that shine beautifully, like the clear sea.

Born and raised in Odawara, a renowned citrus-producing region, as the son of an orange farmer, Suzuki began to teach himself pottery at the age of 35. Over more than 20 years of continuous effort, he discovered his own unique style, creating beautiful pieces with "mikan ash glaze," a symbol of his work, using ash from oranges.

He is a truly rare artisan in Japan, as he handles every step of the process himself, from cultivating oranges to making orange ash, glazes, and pottery. The orange ash creates a unique blue, warm like fruit and clear like the Odawara sea. Growing trees, touching the earth, facing the flames, and bringing works to life—everything is connected in a single thread of creation that symbolizes Takashi Suzuki.

His other series, "Seiji" (celadon) and "Hakuji" (white porcelain), feature crackle glazes that shimmer brightly. These pieces are a beautiful expression of individuality, combining stunning blue and white hues with unique crackle patterns on each piece. With each use, the crackle glaze subtly changes, evolving over time. More than just functional, these "shining vessels" illuminate any space they occupy and are a delight to behold.
