Hidasuki Guinomi Sake Cup — Mashiko No.1

Kazuto Oe, a potter who creates works using the Bizen ware tradition in Mashiko, trained for six years at Tokeido, one of the six historic Bizen ware kilns. In 2011, he began his career as an artist in Bizen, Okayama. In 2015, he moved his studio to Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, where he continues to create unglazed and high-fired works, primarily using the "Hidasuki" technique, which involves firing with straw wrapped around the pieces. While inheriting tradition, his works incorporate modern, sharp forms and are highly praised as vessels that grow with use, conveying the memories of earth and fire to the hands.
