About this Work

This is an ambitious piece from BOSAOJI, crafted from elegant, fine-grained cherry wood that has undergone traditional "iron mordanting."

Iron mordanting is a dyeing technique that naturally reacts tannins in the wood with iron. This process retains the unique grain of the cherry wood while bringing out a deep, beautiful charcoal-black color, as if it had been smoked over many years. Unlike a simple black paint, it is characterized by a profoundly rich expression, with subtle hints of cherry's original red and purple hues appearing within the color depending on the light.

Its minimalist form, stripped of all excess, and the tranquil presence created by the iron mordant make it resemble a piece of modern art.
It harmonizes beautifully not only with Japanese modern spaces but also with industrial and concrete-style modern interiors.

The white smoke of rising incense looks stunning against this chic black. This is a masterpiece we hope will be cherished by those who wish to incorporate a special "stillness" into their daily lives.
