Shallow Rim Bowl, White — Okinawa

From "nakamurakenoshigoto", which makes pottery in Nanjo, Okinawa, comes the "rim bowl (shallow), white", which sets food off beautifully.
A piece marked by a broad, beautiful rim and a gently soft "white". The form is refined, somehow recalling a Western antique plate, and yet you feel the warmth of the clay and the richness of expression only handwork gives.
The well-judged depth only a "shallow bowl" has comes into its own with soup, pasta, simmered or stir-fried dishes with liquid, and salads of chunky vegetables. The wide rim works like a picture frame, making what you have arranged look at once refined and appetising.
