Cobalt Dot Oval Plate — Okinawa

An oval plate from Edome Pottery, on which vivid round motifs (dotted marks) in a deep cobalt blue show fresh and clear. The plain texture of the clay against the strength of the blue brings the food sharply forward.
It has just enough depth to take dishes with liquid, and an exquisite oval form that suits curry and pasta, and equally a one-plate breakfast. Combining the warmth of yachimun with a modern bearing, it is a plate whose turn will come round often at the daily table.
