Vessels to be nurtured through use.
Matsumitsuyama Pottery is located in Ohi, Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Our studio is nestled in a small town right by the Sea of Japan.
Building upon the tradition of Hagi ware, we lightly incorporate modern sensibilities to create new vessels.
From their colors, shapes, and patterns,
to their textures, warmth, and ease of use,
Matsumitsuyama's vessels are made for the food they hold.
We hope that by using Hagi ware, whether for serving seasonal ingredients or displaying flowers from your garden, you can feel a little more happiness.
We invite you to cherish Hagi ware at your daily dining table.

About this Work
A bowl whose rim opens like a chrysanthemum. Glaze gathers in the lines of the petals, and seen from above a single flower seems to have opened.
The colour is a settled gray that quietly draws the food together.
Fill it with salad or simmered vegetables and set it in the middle of the table. Equal to an occasion.
The depth of the glaze differs from piece to piece.
As the piece is used, colour settles into the crazing and the surface changes — the seven changes of Hagi.
