The artist creates pottery in a traditional kiln inherited from their grandfather, preserving the Shigaraki ware tradition while incorporating the unique shinogi characteristic.

"Shinogi" originally refers to the raised ridge on a Japanese sword blade. In pottery, it is a design technique where a spatula or plane is used to shave off the surface, creating continuous vertical削り目 (shinogi marks).
