Sojiro Gama is an Arita-ware pottery studio located in Arita-cho, Saga Prefecture, committed to the traditions of Arita ware and handmade craftsmanship. I am Shinji Ogushi, the second-generation potter, and together with my father, we create each piece by hand using a potter's wheel and adorn them with delicate and profound hand-painted sometsuke designs. Our concept is to craft vessels that bring a touch of luxury to the dining table. We also produce artworks such as large plates and jars, maximizing the skills of our artisans.

About this Work
Six gourd silhouettes — in Japanese, mubyō, a play on the words for a life free of illness.
Inside them, fine auspicious patterns and cherry blossoms make this a plate that carries good fortune.
Lovely for everyday use, and just as fitting as a gift or on a table set for a celebration.
