I create pottery that makes the most of Shigaraki clay's texture, resulting in dynamic forms that are unforgettable once seen. My goal is to make cool-looking dishes for use when dining with friends. They are characterized by a deep, mysterious blue, where the blue glaze catches the light to create delicate gradations, spreading a beauty that resembles a natural lake or sky captured within the piece. These dishes offer both practicality and beauty, meant to be admired and used.

About this Work
This substantial plate features an octagonal form with sharp yet delicate, "pointed" ridges. Within its balanced shape, Jun Fujiwara's characteristic architectural tension and organic softness coexist.
The surface is adorned with three-dimensional decorations created using the "ittchin" slip-trailing technique, lending a warmth that suggests the lingering traces of the hand's movement.
