About this Work

This is a round, plump soup cup with a rim designed to make scooping easy.

The colored sections are created by applying coarse clay and carving patterns with a comb.
The slightly rough texture of the comb marks and the warm colors enhance the white slipglaze.

The exact coloration varies depending on several factors, such as the thickness of the white slip, the position in the kiln, and the season. There are individual differences, ranging from dark brown to shades close to gray.
Please enjoy the varied hues unique to earthenware.

As these items are handmade, some may exhibit slight wobbles, distortions, small holes, or unevenness, and due to the production process, some backstamps may be difficult to see. Additionally, because natural materials are used, some pieces may have small iron spots (black dots) from the clay, or glaze runs, pools, or pinholes.

Even when made using the same methods, no two pieces are exactly alike. We hope you will appreciate the unique individuality and character of each item.
