About this Work
This substantial mug features a unique twisted handle that catches the eye.
The rounded form with a twisted handle allows fingers to fit naturally, providing stability even when filled to the brim. Its highly practical design ensures stress-free everyday use.
The exterior is adorned with a carved decoration called "shinogi," and by applying layers of black-brown and blue metallic glaze with a brush along these lines, a flowing gradation is created.
The beautiful scenery of the mug changes its expression depending on how the light hits it and from what angle you view it, adding to its charm.
The series name "Ooze melt" combines the words "Ooze" and "Melt."
Each piece is carefully crafted with the hope that it will gently melt into the user's life, space, and hands.

Artisan Story
Born in Nara Prefecture in 1993. Established a studio in Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City.
At university and graduate school, I studied clinical psychology, researching the theme of "what is my true self?" While still in graduate school, I worked as a part-time public servant in a psychology-related field, and on weekends, my greatest pleasure was visiting pottery markets in various regions and collecting ceramics.
I started pottery during my time as a graduate student. I entered this world after asking a potter I met at an event if they would teach me pottery in exchange for helping them with their work. Afterwards, I studied at Seizan Toen in Higashiyama, Kyoto, and the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramics Training School, and after working at a pottery studio, I became independent.
Currently, I create ceramics that harmonize gentleness and understated elegance, primarily using soft, creamy glazes, with black-brown or blue decorations on the rims.
Perhaps my works are not born from an attempt to express myself, but rather a natural reflection of "my individuality" that has been gradually shaped through interactions with people.
I strive daily to create ceramics that one naturally wants to pick up in everyday life, and that blend into one's lifestyle the more they are used. I hope to deliver such "just right" ceramics.
