Born in Tokyo in 1997. After working as a hairdresser, a transformative encounter with clay led to a move to Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. In 2023, completed studies at the Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Center.
Currently working as a ceramic artist, creating a wide range of works from tableware to objets.
Drawing inspiration from marine life, natural formations, and cell-like clusters, the artist incorporates protrusions, holes, and undulations to create pieces that evoke a sense of living organisms.
The artist is drawn to the coexistence of opposing elements within a single entity, such as beauty and eeriness, strength and fragility.
While valuing textures that invite touch and unique forms, the artist aims to create works that, despite being vessels, possess an organic quality, stimulating the viewer's senses and imagination.

About this Work
Umezawa Mana's "Indigo Soup Bowl" is a piece of ceramic in a beautiful deep indigo. Its charm lies in a rich colour that calls to mind sea creatures, and in the gradation of glaze across the surface. Inside, blue of shifting depth swirls, giving the mysterious impression of looking down into deep water. A texture you want to reach out and touch, and a design that works on the imagination — it is well suited to setting a table apart.
